Joshua Drechsel was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1972, moving to the Tampa Bay area in 1979. He grew up in St. Petersburg and attended Jesuit High School in Tampa, graduating in 1990. He attended the University of Florida from 1990 to 1992, and graduated cum laude from the University of South Florida in 1994 with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. He graduated cum laude from Florida State University College of Law in 1997. He was admitted to the Florida bar in 1997 and he is licensed to practice law in the state courts of Florida and the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida.
Mr. Drechsel began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County where he worked in both the Felony and Misdemeanor Divisions, including the position of a Lead Trial Attorney. During his tenure as an Assistant State Attorney he tried over one hundred cases. He concentrated his efforts in the Domestic Violence Unit and developed an affinity for helping victims and relied immensely on the efforts of victim advocates. He entered the civil arena as an attorney with Morgan, Colling & Gilbert concentrating in the area of workers’ compensation litigation. He, along with two former partners of Morgan, Colling, and Gilbert, P.A., then worked at the law firm of Fiol, Gomez & Blackburn, P.A. where he was in charge of the Personal Injury department specializing in the areas of personal injury including automobile/DUI accidents, premise liability, Workers’ Compensation, and Inadequate Security litigation.
Although the experience at large firms provided him insight into that business model, Josh found himself often times resolving cases with clients whom he never even had the opportunity to meet or speak to about their injuries or how the incident affected them. He went on to form a partnership in St. Petersburg in 2006 and the Brumbelow Drechsel Law Group was born.
In 2015, Josh Firm P.A. was established as Josh’s own concept to provide injured clients with a boutique experience. Josh has litigated and handled cases in numerous circuits throughout the State of Florida and has served as co-counsel on various cases which harness his skillset as a seasoned trial attorney.
His current practice areas include: Negligent Security, Personal Injury (automobile collisions, trucking collisions, wrongful death, boating accidents) as well as an exceptional niche for seeking civil justice for victims of crime. He is a proud member and sponsor of the National Crime Victim’s Bar Association and has established viable liaisons with crime victim advocates throughout the county.
